Common Kitchen Pantry Storage Mistakes

If you are currently remodeling your kitchen, or are planning on renovating it in the near future, you are going to want to make sure that you have a solid thought out plan for your kitchen pantry storage. Clearing up the clutter inside of your kitchen is easy when you have some place to store the commonly used items, and keep them out of the way of your every day life. Go over some of the common mistakes that homeowners make while they are planning out their built in pantry cabinet in order to keep yourself from making the same mistakes and ending up with a cluttered kitchen after your remodel.

Mistake #1) Having A Plan In Mind – One of the biggest mistakes people make is that they simply do not have a plan in mind when it comes to their kitchen pantry. Go over the list of items that you use most often and make sure that they have their own dedicated space inside of your pantry, and include this space into the design and layout of the pantry.

Mistake #2) Using Inward Opening Doors – Another huge problem that faces people is the fact that they purchase doors for the pantry that open up into the pantry, rather than out into the kitchen. When your pantry is already small and you have to cut into the space by pushing a door open into it, you are going to be blocking precious storage space, making even more hassels for yourself when you need to get in and out of it.

Mistake #3) Not Thinking About How You Move Around The Kitchen – Because you are going to be spending so much time inside your kitchen, you are going to be constantly requiring access to the pantry. This means that you should make sure that you can get in and out of it and that using it is going to be natural in the flow of traffic inside of your kitchen.

Mistake #4) Not Adding Any Electrical Outlets – If you like working in the dark, this is not a problem. However, if you want to be able to see the items that you are going to be looking for, you will need some electrical outlets installed where you can use lights, and even your smaller appliances, without having to drag them out into the kitchen, and put them back when you are finished with them.
